What does Covid-19 mean for an international company?
In the translation industry, we are used to promoting cross-border movement and global connections, and it has been troubling to see how quickly the Covid-19 epidemic can put our daily routines into question.
As a multi-local company, we have team members around the world. Some of them are located in countries that have had to take severe measures, whereas others have been less affected. My thoughts are with the Acolad team, our clients, and our network of freelancers during this difficult time.
On the other hand, I have been so impressed with my team’s response over the past few weeks. Regular video calls and telephone conferences have been put into place by team members who are working remotely, our IT department has provided Acolad staff with the necessary equipment to work from home, and HR have provided clear lines of communication with the entire organization. The relative ease with which these measures were put into place has reminded me of how unique our business model is: while handling a network of 18,000 freelancers and staff in 14 countries has not always been simple in the past, it is certainly our biggest strength today.
Some of you may have been wondering if Covid-19 will affect Acolad’s business operations. Thanks to the nature of our work, which is 100% digital, we can offer the same level of service that you are used to. If you require any information about our specific Business Continuity Plan, please get in touch with your local contact and they will be happy to help.
We also know that everyone is not in the same position as we are and that our clients might have to handle very urgent international communication and production issues. In this case, you can count on us. Helping clients figure out complex situations has been at the heart of our business for over 25 years and we’re looking forward to finding the right solutions for you, no matter the circumstances.
